This is an awesome program put on by Starbucks featuring some of the top HS jazz bands in the Puget Sound area. Come hear our band and support them. Funds from the function will be distributed to the bands that are playing. So, not only will you hear great music but you will be financially supporting our band program. Following the game (8:45 Approx.), back in the commons, volunteers receive gauntlets, man garment racks and assist students in proper hanging and storage of their uniforms.
Students are released when their uniform has been successfully stored and they have been dismissed by their volunteer garment rack parent.
All Volunteers should make themselves aware of the sewing/repair kit, helmet box location, first aid supplies, costs and location of extra gloves and socks, and of public facilities.
All Volunteers should remain pleasant, firm and fair. They should speak to, guide, reaffirm and nurture each band student as they would a stranger's child. Attitude is created "top-down" and our band students will adopt and reward a positive and supportive attitude as mentored by our adult volunteers.

Roger's Parade information - Below is some information that Mr E and Mr G wants everyone to know about for the upcoming trip to the Roger's Santa Claus Parade in Vancouver, BC. For now birth certificates are still accepted for crossing but our recommendation is that students get a passport for the trips to Canada if they don't already have them. For the future, band plans will include making the trip north to Vancouver and Victoria in the spring. This will be an annual thing. That could mean a minimum crossing for freshmen of at least 8 times in four years.
The parade is on Sunday Dec 7th @ 1 pm. Families are invited to go but will need to make their own arrangements. If there is enough interest, we can research finding a central location to meet along the parade route so that we can cheer our kids on.
If you would like to check out the Roger's Parade info, the url is: http://rogerssantaclausparade.com/
Included are three websites that pertain to border crossings. Please check them out for pertinent information as it relates to your situation.

Newport at Newcastle: A Jazz Gala - The Jazz Gala, Newport At Newcastle, will be held on the 24th of April at the Newcastle Country Club. The event will feature the Newport Knights Jazz bands and a special guest artist. Last year's Jazz Gala was a great success with a sell out crowd enjoying an evening of fine food and wonderful Jazz.
The NBPA is interested in acquiring exciting items for the auction which accompanies the dinner. Items can be as simple as certificates for free services, and autographed baseballs, or as extravagant as an all expenses paid vacation to Paris. Anyone interested in becoming an event sponsor is urged to contact the NBPA.
Mark your calendars, details to follow.

BAND FUND RAISING - The NBPA's two primary fund raising events this year will include the Write-A-Check campaign and the Jazz Gala. These events raise the money which the NBPA uses to support the program throughout the year. This money provides contributions to new uniforms, new instruments, additional instruction and coaching, sectionals for Jazz Band, and many other items and programs throughout the year which allow our band program to reach a level of excellence. This year we are particularly focused on purchasing new instruments we need to support our growing program, including French Horns, a Flute and if we are really successful, a Marimba.
For the Write-A-Check program, all parents are encouraged to make a contribution, either by check, or on-line at www.newportband.org.
