Newport Knights Bands
Newport High School - Bellevue, WA
Band Grading Policy

The expectations for each individual in our performing groups are very high. Being a member of a performing ensemble demands a personal commitment form everyone involved, therefore, commitment is one of our expectations. We also expect to see positive development in the areas of performing ability and music theory, as well as personal growth in the areas of discipline, responsibility, dedication to the group(s) and the ability to work within the group to achieve common goals.

Band Performance Expectations

This expectation list has been created and distributed to NHS band students in order to more fully explain our program′s expectations for band performances. I anticipate this will help us all have better and more rewarding performances as we pursue musical excellence. As described in our grading policy, your performance grade constitutes 25% of your overall grade.

Chair Placement and Challenge System

Chair placement auditions will occur during the month of October in all band classes. The Challenge system is intended as a way for students to move up their section′s chair placement order.

Newport Pride Uniform Policies
